Visitors from Chile to our school by Spanish Club

During the final exam, I had a program that is from my Spanish teacher about the international students sightseeing program at my school. Seems that I have some time on my final exams (I don't really study even I am free, after all), so I had decided to join the group for a day.

The group on that day, and guess I had blocked one of them~ >.< (Angelica - left 1 in first row, Alexandra - middle in middle row, Robben - left 1 in back row and Ximena, middle in back row)The first destination after breakfast - Monsopiad Cultural Village, the man besides me is wearing the traditional Kadazandusun clothing.

Cannot remember what is that house for...
Some of the games at the cultural village - considered as traditional game, like blowgun.

They also have the utensils that used to make tapai (a kind of wine).

Went to several locations but there are only two places that becomes the main spot for the day - and the second one is the Lokawi Wildlife Park.
White eagle that in the park, very cool...
First time that I touched a snake. Looks a bit... -.-'

The orang utan, she is quite a poser.

At that night we went to Damai for a dinner too (I planned to go because at that night I am furious about the hostel... that they chose randomly). They spent a week here and have fun with them, even it is just a day. Luckily that we live in the same college at that time they visit, so still can spend some more time and chatting when they are around, to release some 'tension' from the student affairs too. *sigh*

The admin issue again... and our course registration

Recently I am quite 'hardworking' on checking on the SMP and also the admin department website to search for updates about anything. Found out that the admin website mention there will be a pre-registration starting 11 till 31 May, but at the same page, the website also mention that the SM Portal will be re-opened at 29th June.

Which one is true?

Except that, when I checked the SMP site, it seems that there are something wrong (my hostel registration reverted back again), and I really dislike the way they do something! The hostel affairs made me in troubles to getting help and asking for why I am not accepted (and finally accepted), and now the problem of the data is reverted or whatever they got for excuses... guess I will need to make a call to both hostel department and also the admin department... (And now have some problem to get the telephone of my hostel department... *sigh*

The courses that are offered by (next year is in strike and underlined font) (next semester is in bold and italicized) will also be as follow (subject to change):

TE 30103 - Social Context of Language Learning (Tue 8-10am)
TE 30303 - TESL Methodology 2 (Literature)
(no timetable yet, not offered for next semester)

*It is rumored that all of these classes are in 8am.
* DA Lecturer changed to somebody else... not the doctor anymore -.-

If the registration starts, please register for the 3 courses below, and do let me know if there is any problem on the registration.

Activity at Kota Belud of JAKMAS

At 4 April (the day after TESL Nite 2009 - 3rd April), I accepted my friend's request, whom is a JAKMAS at my residential college, to join the caring activity in an orphanage (I will use the word 'hostel' from later on to sub the 'orphanage') in Kota Belud.

This is my first activity that I joined under the residential college, and also the first time to visit orpahnage (as there are a lot of sensitivity words that are not allowed to speak)...

Woke up at 6, and then arrived there at 9am. And heard that I am in charge of Year 6 but eventually becomes a photographer there.

The library of the hostel. It seems that it looks beautiful, but the books are quite outdated. Needs some sponsor I guess.

The overview of the hostel (from the rooms side).

The another side of the 'overview'. The hostel is not as bad as I imagined. This is quite a good one (spacious and got it's own hall but a bit hot). You can also see that they are waiting for the registration.

And this is how the registration is done.

One of the teaching process that we had (divided into several groups). Wonder that why is this necessary as they also go to schools?

The rooms of the students. There is only a fan (not the one we have in the hostels, like the table fan) at the middle. If I live in this room, sure I will get crazy in minutes due to the heat. They impressed me on this part.

The 'before departure' activity (last activity). Playing games with them... music chair.

My group photo (they are my adik angkat in terms of activity) with one of my matey - Rupinee (Called her Rupee). All of these are Year 6 students that lives in the hostel (except the girl).

Actually there are no difference between us and the orphans. Just they don't have parents (some of them do, but financial problem at their family forces them to do so...) and they do deserve a fair treatment just like us.

It is a tough activity, but I do enjoyed it for the whole day (and yeah, it is tiring too). Due to this activity, I knew some new friends and also a felo and a person from HEP too... Sure it is beneficial... sometimes.

How to make yourself happy?

Forwarded by my friend to me, and decided to share this out too.

How to Stay Happy Always :-)

1.
Throw out nonessential numbers.
This includes age, weight, and height.

Let the doctors worry about them.. That is why you pay them.

2.
Keep only cheerful friends.
The grouches pull you down.
(Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3.
Keep learning:

Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever.
Never let the brain get idle.
'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'
And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4.
Enjoy the simple things.

5.
Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
*********
And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with him or her!

6.
The tears happen:
Endure, grieve, and move on.
The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourself.
LIVE while you are alive.

7
Surround yourself with what you love:
Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8.
Cherish your health:
If it is good, preserve it.
If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9.
Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is

10.
Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

Accept the things that is correct and ignore the things that is incorrect. No matter you are, it has no difference if you have your day sad. Why don't make it a happy day if it really makes no difference?

Like this:

I am not entirely an optimist who believes that the best will happen - and I am not entirely a pessimist who believes the worst will happen. You can say I am a pessoptimist. I believe that the best will happen - but it won't be good enough.

Nobody has the power to make us miserable or happy, except ourselves.

A word from Lyn Karol:
Learn to laugh at your troubles and you will never run out of things to laugh at.

27th October

Well. 27th of this month is surely a unique day. Why? Let me go into further details.

1. pGURU meeting
This is the first. And it seems that finally (yeah, finally!) they have decided about the executives (EXCO) for the association. No doubt, I am taking the EXCO of publishing and information. At the same time, this EXCO has changed the name into ICT for this year.

At the beginning, I thought this is not a hard job, but then, I think it is... pathetic. Heard that pguru got its own website and launched at previous semester. However, when I viewed to it, there are numerous codings and not even a thing inside! The website is also too long for them to type. Just wonder making a blog (but stupid procedures and rules about copyright or whatever...) will be easier, isn't it? Guess I will starting to have a hard time on this for the next semester.

2. Friend's birthday
Well, think about birthday, surely think about the trouble. So far I am only celebrating my friend's birthday. Wonder if I got the chance to celebrate mine? All 4 of my friends had celebrated their birthday and today I and my friends celebrated her birthday at her house. Sure thing to say, it is crowded at her house. At least we still have the good time and she is happy too.

3. Friend's issue
I don't know how to say about it, but just want to know is the competition on the scores are important? Frankly, my pointer is just 3.++ and I don't have the intention into any list or whatever we call it. The thing I need to do is just survive for the whole university life and maintain at least a 3 pointer for my better future. So please, friends, stop spreading words that I am self-centered or whatever (if not then I will not volunteer myself to do so much jobs and helping you all)... Like it or not, being honest and indirect sometimes are my personality. It can be my strength and my weakness sometimes, as I hate to do the appearance making.

4. Others
Yeah, I got plenty of photoes and I am arranging. It is about the SIE at my area as well as the carnival of co-curricular activity at my school. Give me some time as I am busy on my assignment and hopefully I can done it within this week.

Fire Alarm and...

What can you imagine when the fire alarm in your dormitory 'rings' at the midnight?

I experienced that just yesterday. What I can tell I am totally 'blank' as I am not sure that either the alarm is real or something goes wrong with the alarm. After a few minutes of confusion and perhaps... chaos in the beginning, and then it seems that the alarm was faulty or maybe somebody disturbed the alarm.

Today, I am almost in rage. Thanks to our psychology lecturer, teaches us nothing but tests us everything. I just realise that he is even more insane than one of my lecturer and even certain lecturers. Try to imagine. Can you finish everything unless you try your luck for answering at least 120 MCQ, then followed with some structure, and also essay questions?! Gosh, ALL OF THESE IN 120 MINUTES! He is totally insane and frankly to say, I am pissed off with this fella! Cannot imagine there is a lecturer that is even worse.

I would prefer to get a 14 hour credit for this semester, or maybe a TD for my result slip, rather than study nothing and get no knowledge, and what he did in the lectures are talking rot and nonsense. 14 weeks of a lecture and he showed up at the 8th week, with a total of less than 6 lectures for the rest of the week, we need to hand in our assignment, and also have the midterm and this and that...

Sigh. What result I can get for this semester? A lot of courses that dragging my pointer down for this semester. I am dissapointed, and worried.

The Community Thread Released.

Yo.

Going to inform that I have just set up a board that is similar to LMS, and now currently named as The TESLian Forum and Online Community.

Hopefully that this will be one of the places for us to go when we are surfing the internet.

A ranting of myself. Really. (1)

Busy with several midterms in a week and at last it called it an end.

Bothered a lot with the matters - an easy work becomes complicated.

Ah... holidays. Soon is Raya and after Raya I will got a lot of assignments to hand out, hopefully I got the time to do so. At least 40% for my works should be OK. At least I no need to rush for that. More problems to come on after the holiday, I think so...

A lot of us went back for holiday 'already' for the Hari Raya. So just put a message to my friends that Happy Raya Puasa to you and make sure bring something delicious back to me oh~

Now we might hope that everything are going fine and we managed to pass up our assignments, and..
My Psychology Class and other classes.
What I can say, I got a headache when my friends talked about this. This can be one of my worst course for the moment. Lacks of lecturer for 7 weeks without any notice or what, and now we are forced to 'go with the aeroplane' and rush everything out for the rest of the weeks...

This surely will come out with a lot of chaos, and I might not survive on this course.

The analysis of ....
I think I can regard this as a 'safe point' for the moment. He feel sorry for it, or maybe I behaved 'well' who knows.

Events...
Somehow... A lot of conflict happens around me, with this term 'birthday'. Heard a lot from my mates' about something is really confidential as I need to maintain as a 'sharer' and secret holder. See... It seems that this semester I am going to company a lot of my friends on celebrating someone's birthday, for once or twice... Me? I never celebrated my birthday after I am at the age of 12. But still, after I opened my account in Friendster and some of my friends did put a comment on my profile regarding to my birthday, thanks. I got no chance to celebrate it...

Quite speechless about this.

And... the bee, dog and cat issues in the hostel. This is what we call politics in the hostel.

Guess still got a lot more to go, but I don't know how to describe it... let it be in the next chapter.

Don't know what to write again. It seems that my friends also don't know how to use the net quite well, except go to Friendster... While they got problem on anything regarding to the notes or what at my blog, tons of SMS are coming and I need to reply to them one by one...

I might be showing off, but this is the only way for me to put up the notice which is efficient, and cost saving. For you might think that I am stingy or what to reply your SMS, but think in a way of research. Let's say 50 people like you SMS me with that... A SMS costs me 15 sen for it you know. What will happen if all of the coursemates SMS me for the same time just for a question "we got XXXX Class or not?"

Honestly, I don't think the Net availability is not an issue here, maybe for College E. Since you have time to go to the crappy LMS site, why bother to come here, at least have a support except for gaining information or keep SMS me on those issues? I don't bother to get a broadband even though I know I might not always using it. At least I need it for these months before the final exam because this is a need for us. Please-lah, be active and stop giving excuses (if you are able to go to other site such as Friendster, please bother a moment and step into here).

Please think the reason behind I am using my blog for my own ranting as well as using it for the information notice for the courses. I need the support...

IM Security Alert.

Security alert for IM peoples!

Have you ever receive a message something like this below from your friend?

They logged in, sent you an IM with a freakly weird address, and then logs out.

This is one of my IM interface I received yesterday. My friend 'logged' in, then send you something like the link above and then logs out. Your message will not send to them even that you have replied to them (even though the Offline Messaging is supported).

Similar with this, they send you an attachment like 'photo of my party' with a small size in .zip format... inside also includes virus that can destroy you HDD if your anti virus is not strong enough.

I just heard about that these are viruses or hacks from the site. Anyway, just be careful about that. Make sure you don't click to these websites if you found that site is fishy. Ask your friends once more to make sure that it is the right site.

51th National Day - 2008

Well...

At last it is the time again for the 'anniversary of Malaysia'.

Seems that this year our country is always facing quite a number of ups and downs and now there is still some political issue about the country. But still, for today I think all of the grudges will be hold down for a while, at least for a day.

Theme for this year's National Day - Unity is the basic for success (Perpaduan Asas Kejayaan)... Will it really can be done?

Anyway...
Happy National Day 2008.

Yeah... and happy holiday for my DA coursemate because we no need to face that ugly fella by next Monday, uh.. whatever. Enjoy for the holidays.

P/S: I also consider today as the 1 year anniversary for my blog too as I started this at the beginning of the month by last year. Thanks (to you, readers) for reading and visiting for my blog. Hopefully I am able to continue till the end though.

There's only a mother and father in the world (Chinese)

I get this from my friend's e-mail again, and I find out this is an interesting item for me to post it up. Whoever is the writer of this essay, please contact me so that I can put a credit from it.

Thanks to my friend - Y_Wei to forward me this essay. If it is possible, I will try to translate this to English...

我相信,人是環環相扣的;

現在,你如何對待你的父母;

Online Web games

Hey, readers: is it 'boring' when you have your two month holiday, and got nothing to do as the games published recently are more and more into nuts as the requirements and the machine problem?

I spotted (perhaps is replaying) a online WEB game to spend my time in the holidays. Having a pet in real life is fun but troubled sometimes? Want to have an imaginative pet while you can take care of the pet, and get some friends around the world as well as playing games to spare your boredom moments (as well as waiting for the download)? I think this is the site you might need to hop into. Click on the banner to register and view more information about this game.

Click the banner below!

Prove it that you are playing this game.
I am currently playing this game when I am online (already a month). Of course - I also have a pet which I named as _0_Latias_0_, with the species that called Shoyru (a kind of dragon in the Neopets community).

Want to view on my information in this game? Well... Click here for more information.

A picture of my pet. Yeah... it's a female.

World Cup in Neopets world?!

In this world, they also have held the cup which is similar to world cup, but they call it as Altador Cup as Altador is the origin of the worldwide sports tournament in the Neopets world (or called Neopia).

Three games are held in this tournament, which are called Yooyuball (5 people indoor soccer), Slushie Slinger (sling your drinks to customer and gain points) and Make Some Noise (shouting louder to gain more points).

There are 16 teams that from the world joining this world tournament, and I was a member of this team: Lost Desert (as the left logo) and the members of this team as in the lower image.

What you can do in this game?
I can say there are a lot of things that you can do. For example, while raising your pet, you can playing some Flash Games that in the website and surfing the net or the articles about Neopia, exploring the world (while you wait for the games to load), doing your usual routine as surf other websites.

Not only that, you can also learn to become a businessman by try to haggling the price when you are going to buy something, train your pet to join the battledome, and play with your pets with some PHP games in the website too.

In a nutshell, you can buy, sell, trade, show, train, play, chat and more functions as it is going to be added soon to the game, and most importantly, this game requires no download (but your computer will need to have Flash, Shockwave and 3-D Life Plugin in order to play the games though), and it is free!

Why this game?
You know, in school there is unlimited wireless services but there are some limits on using it. You cannot use it to download something as P2P or even use to play online games (due to the restriction and the booby speed we have at there). Why we don't effectively use the resource that they gave us (besides by using it to search information) as playing games before the lecture is coming? (Gosh, study and study, even online also searching for article for study is a boring thing to do, you know)

This game does not require any monthly cards or points card to play (Only if you want to have a better attire for your pets to show off, unfortunate that Malaysia still not yet have that service), while you can earn the money (they called as NeoPoints inside the site or when you are playing the flash game. You surf, play and have to take care your pet when you are online so that you will 'got something' to do (not idle always) in the web surfing.

Untitled #1

Roughly 45 days have passed for this semester break, but it seems that it was more bored if you can go nowhere - inflation streak, work as well as financial problem... Anything about money. Sigh...

Family matters
A lot of things happened in my family too. Because of my father's health problem, I had went through some hospitals in Kota Kinabalu and Lawas in just a few days. Before that, I am also working at a father of my friend's restaurant, and now I have 'shifted' my workplace from a restaurant to my father's brick factory - till he was fully recovered or when my next semester starts.

Crazy inflations
At the same time, I also knew that the money earned nowadays are quite tough - even RM 3000 monthly salary would barely enough for this time due to the crazy inflations. Government accuses that they don't have enough salary, in face their earnings more than the value mentioned at least +3000 or even more for some higher 'level' politicians. Perhaps, they should try just like us (citizens), use public transport to go to work, do the same thing just as we do, including accommodation and foods.

There was SUPPOSED to be the men behind these scenes, and it thinks that the current salary of the citizens are able to cope it out. They should try to experience the life of the 'commoners' for a month first, otherwise they should not put out their opinions too fast. Don't ask your driver to fetch you to work or to anywhere, nor without car. You should try to use the public transport and you will know why sometimes we choose to use private transport instead of the public one. "Use public transport more and drive less to solve the inflation, save more...", as some politicians said. What a lame excuse. Try our life first, then you give your opinion, dude.

My oncoming semester
Talking about the future semester, I also wondered that how on earth about the school policy on setting up the things? See... 14 days more for the orientation for freshmen in my school, and just after they finished the orientation then we ONLY be allowed to register for everything, including hostel and courses. This is the most troublesome part as the semester starts in the 7th July, which we also need to do the things above - Whew! That was nuts! the academic department never done his job well since I was in the university...

*Sensitive, huh? Well... people will be boring without any complains since so many problems on the moment. Just meant to say something it is real, after all. I rarely speak something that is fake though, not my interest nor personality.

Inflation Chaos

It seems that this year's Gawai festival has caused a lot of things happen, especially when we mention about the price of the item we have currently.

The first inflation started by our prime minister or the government (whomever they are), a raise of 50 cent until RM2 for a kilogram of rice, depending on the brand and type. It means that every 10 kg will have a raise between RM5 to RM20 for a pack of rice.

Then, followed by the raise of raw materials for building and tires, and now followed by the petrol. In just a few days of June, almost everything has raise the price for it, roughly 70% inflation value if compared to the lower price.

Even the electricity fees was increased as well.

When you think over carefully, who will be the man behind of these scenes and chaos?

As their favorite quote are: Our fuels is still the 2nd or 3rd cheapest if compared to the other ASEAN countries. Well, it might be true, but the salary of Malaysians are also the 2nd or 3rd lowest if compared with ASEAN countries, as Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei have better salaries and conditions.

Do you think that the subsidy of RM625 (some of them are even less) to the car owner will help to cope out with the problems? How will they give the rebate to the citizens is also another matter as they are good at giving excuses as don't know how to give to us/ need proof...

If these problems still persists, well... out MYR value will become no difference as the Rupiahs. This can be shown that how 'good' and 'efficient' of our government. Did they think about the citizens?

降头?Killing SMS?

Have you heard about these gossip lately?

1. After 11PM, don't open your PC/laptop, handset, telephone. Somebody watched the TV after 11PM died suddenly when the TV screen appeared the red words.
2. Don't make or/and receive calls after 11PM.
3. A lot of SMS that telling about the black magic group in Indonesia will kill you when you answer the calls from them. It is rumored that the number of these calls start with +62XXXXXXXX and the answer screen will become red. Anyone who answers it will die.

The news from Daily Express, Sabah published the news too.
Ignore 'blackmagic' SMS, say cops
17 May, 2008

"Tawau: Police advised the public to ignore a Short Messaging Service (SMS) text involving a so-called group of black magic followers from Indonesia trying their witchcraft through the telecommunication network.

The text told people not to pick up their mobile phone if the colour of the caller number flashing on the phone was in red, claiming the black magic followers were trying their ilmu (knowledge) through phone.

It also claimed that if people answered the call they would die.

District Police Chief, ACP Jaafar Mohd Yusof told the public not to believe the SMS, saying it is irrational and illogical.

"We do not know the purpose behind this but the public should not be influenced and be worried by it," he said, adding his friends from Kuala Lumpur had also forwarded him the same SMS.

It was learnt the SMS was spread since Wednesday night."

For me, I will not believe it for some reasons...
1 - Yes... until now there is still no such news that somebody that dies suddenly in anywhere - except my friends told me so.
2 - How you can tell that the screen is red in case you are using a black-white handset? (Judge by numbers...)
3 - Then all telecommunication company will loss a lot. No more calls can be made since most of us are afraid that we might get killed when we answer a call.
4 - If I believe it, I should stay at my bed right now - instead of posting this post to my blog.

Wonder how do they think about these...

Donations to the disaster victims

After several natural disasters, it seems that it is the time for everyone to show how is the caring society and humanity exists in the community. Plenty of donations can be made to the victims. As in local, the tornado in Miri or in international - Sichuan earthquake as well as Myanmar cyclone.

The methods can be numerous. Either by mail, check or cash. But there are still some other way to do so. Just for example is donating your clothes, blood and some good/supplies to them, and I suppose that you know where you are going to do that. If you want to aid them in financial method but don't have a lot of money (I am student, of course I don't have a lot of money), you can try to donate via SMS.

You know? Even SMS is also one of the possible way for making donations! For me, I have chosen to donate RM2 via SMS (and it works as I watched through TV). This is how it goes:

- Use your handset to 'Compose Message' in 'Messages' and then key in "DERMA [space] [number]" to 32776. *For example: if you want to donate RM 1, just simply type "DERMA 1" to the number provided.
- After a while, you will receive a message from the service provider (I think is from RTM) that confirmed that you have donated the value you want as below.

What are you waiting for? Even just a cent will be worthy here. Try to make your donation to them as the victims are desperate for various aid at there now.

'The' Natural Disaster

Seems that recently has happened quite a number of disasters. In a week or two only, there are already around 3 (at least I knew about) local and international major disaster.

1. Typhoon in Sarawak Area

Feel some extremely strong winds a few days, especially yesterdays. Looked over today's newspaper, just knew that was a typhoon invaded in Sarawak area, which Miri affected the most. They called the strong wind @ typhoon as Ramasun or 拉马逊台风 in Chinese.

A huge number of people are homeless and several locations in Miri are in chaos because of this.

This is one of the news that I get in The Star. Click here

2. Myanmar Cyclone / Storm Flood

And then what I recently knew about is the Myanmar cyclone. If recalled it correctly, they named the cyclone - Nargis, which happened in 3rd May. The second cyclone just appeared in Myanmar (again) in a few days ago and it has further jeopardize the people who survived on Nargis and halted the recover of the country.

This is the news that I get in The Star, and several Chinese e-news.

Red Cross estimates up to 128,000 died in Myanmar cyclone

3. Sichuan Earthquake

China is going to organize Olympic 2008 just in less than 100 days. After settled the problem of Tibet - riot about Olympics, and now comes another problem - the earthquake in Sichuan. Sichuan is a landlocked area surrounded with mountains, happens a massive earhquake - 7.9 magnitude and causes around 50000 people in the death toll - and still rising. The whole city has became into ruins and supposed to be say, the Chinese government might have trouble in aiding the inland area as for the doctors also having problem in the medical services (limited medicine, no electricity, location problem...)

You know - 8 was being known as a lucky number for Chinese? But this earthquake happens 88 days before the Olympic in China, which have the ceremony in the 2008-8-8 at 8pm. What does this means?

There are several galleries of photos about the situation in Sichuan. These galleries are in Sin Chew-i though, so it is in Chinese.

Click here to go into the link. Inside here, there should be several categories of photos available at the middle left frame of that website.

At these cases, I can made out with this summary.

Let's opt out with the local disaster as it just happens in a moment ago. Try to compare the disaster that Myanmar and China now. It is clear that China is an industrial and agriculture country, and Myanmar is an agriculture country which serves as one of the major country that produces rice. China is also getting ready to organize the Olympics at this moment. Both countries face such devastating impact, seems that the supply of rice will face the problem soon and how will China prepare for the sport event in the moment?

At this moment, humanism (人道援助) is the important key for both countries, especially on the government. In China, approximately 8 hours after the earthquake happens, Sir Wen Jia Bao (溫家寶, Chinese prime minister / premier) was in the tragedy area to soothe the victims of Sichuan, and commanded the rescue team to commence their jobs. Around 50000 of total of army and police troops also arrived as soon as they can to the area, trying to evacuate the citizens and do the rescue job on the buried grounds. Supplies, rations, tents and some needs were sent to there at the same time along with medical team too.

Of course, there still got a lot of critics too - for example: As in today's technology and science, why does the Chinese government did not send out any warning to let them know? Why they cannot tell when this is going to happen?

Now - have a view at Myanmar. It seems that the government of Myanmar has done nothing that is admirable, if compared to China (China's rapid response and aid, even in political attention, is really worth for the admiralty). If we view on the current condition of Myanmar, after facing such disaster, the victims will facing a lot of problem as insufficient needs and supplies, as well as health hazards. Without shelter and heavy rains due to the monsoon is also a crisis to the Myanmar citizens. This is what I found in The Star, from UN and USA political members and USA ambassador about Myanmar when he mentioned about this crisis (in italics):

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday sharply criticized Myanmar's military junta, whose leader Senior Gen. Than Shwe has refused to take his calls, expressing "deep concern and immense frustration'' at "the unacceptably slow response to this grave humanitarian crisis.'' On Tuesday, Elisabeth Byrs, spokeswoman for the U.N. Office for Humanitarian Affairs, followed up saying: "We fear a second catastrophe unless we're able to put in place quickly a maximum of aid and a major logistical effort comparable with the response to the tsunami.''

U.N. spokeswoman Michele Montas was asked Tuesday whether the secretary-general was concerned that China has not yet said what kind of help the U.N. could provide to the earthquake victims.

"I don't think he is that concerned because so far, he doesn't have any reports that aid is not reaching the survivors and that the survivors are not being taken care of,'' she replied. "I think his concern was about the situation in Myanmar, because of the fact that people were not receiving aid.''

'The situation in Burma is very, very different,'' Sawers said, using the former name for Myanmar. "There, the scale of the disaster is a whole lot greater. The risk of water-borne disease, lack of clean sanitation -- all these problems are going to escalate over the days to come.''

He warned that "the death toll can double or more because of the lack of basic health care facilities and clean water and food and shelter -- and with heavy rains expected in southern Burma in the days ahead that can only make things even worse.''

The secretary-general, Sawers, and U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad all expressed concern at reports that desperately needed food and aid from the U.N. and other organizations that has arrived in Myanmar is being diverted to non-cyclone victims, though no one had independent evidence.

Sawers said the reports underline the need for the Myanmar government to accept that it does not have the capacity to distribute aid to 1.5 million people.

"This is not a slight on Burma,'' he said. "No country of that size could cope with delivering aid to 1.5 million people.''

Besides, Sawers said, "the Burmese army are not a humanitarian organization'' and are not geared up for humanitarian operations, so the government should leave distribution to experts from the U.N. and international organizations who have the skills to get help in before it's too late.'

and

Admittedly, Myanmar has always been a political hotspot. From the EU to Asean, from NGOs to individuals, the world has tried all sorts of things to move the regime on political reforms which the ruling junta has been steadfast in rejecting.

But at times like this, let us pray that politics will be put aside. May good sense prevail, and may the junta acknowledge and accept all aid as sincere efforts from the globalised world.

All the money and supplies already collected will be of no use unless they find their way to where they are needed most. And every second counts.

Over the weekend, I heard a Malaysian official with the Food for the Hungry organisation (on transit in Kuala Lumpur because the visa had not been approved) emotionally appealing for a softening of the hearts of the generals so that they can move in to help.

“Drinking water is now the big issue. Unless the survivors can get ample supply, they will become victims of water-borne diseases like cholera,” he said.

Unless help is given fast, the second wave of deaths could potentially be larger than the first.

Compared to Myanmar, the stories and the images out of China show a nation fully galvanized to help in the search for survivors. The ordinary people further away are donating blood in mobile clinics even as troops and medical personnel rush to the scene. The world, international aid agencies in particular, must be relieved that this is not Myanmar all over again.

China's handling of its disaster contrasts sharply with the way Myanmar's junta has responded to its cyclone crisis. The generals have attached stringent conditions to offers of aid and they are scrambling to draw a veil of secrecy over the disaster, which is estimated to have killed tens of thousands of people.

They said so, but they have their point. Myanmar's junta rejects the aid of USA in supplies to the countries. Making out with strict rules and visas just to sending out the supplies to Myanma, yes, Myanmar has start receiving supplies and aids from professionals - but is it a little to late? More even worse, some of the military men in Myanmar claims the supplies that is the juntas aid to the victims, not the aiding country, and the businessmen in Myanmar also rise up the price of water and rations to around 3 times of the normal price. A Chinese news mentioned one of these:

Gosh, how horrible. What a shame for the Myanmar generals. Showing out their ego by turning down the aid and compassion of the people in the midst of the tragedy in Myanmar.

And sums up from that, we should be lucky that we live in Malaysia and we have a caring heart. Why don't donate to these victims, either local or international as you can, as there are several services that accepting donations in various ways (in SMS, calling, cash, cheque, items)? Even a cent is also a help to them, even it is not a lot, but still there is the 'least' and the caring heart.

Anyway, just hopefully that this problems and disasters will be overcome as soon as possible. See out who, or what is the real disaster at these cases though.

(Again, no point of insulting on the governments as they are really found on the newspapers and online)
